Then I had a revolutionary idea....I thought why not? I'll just blend the two ideas together. This Philly Cheese Steak Pizza is what resulted.
Philly Cheese Steak Pizza
Crust Ingredients:
1/3 cup coconut flour
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 Tablespoons ground flax meal
4 eggs
3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Topping Ingredients:
8 ounces thinly sliced steak
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
2 slices of provolone cheese cut into pieces
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Line the pizza pan with a sheet of parchment paper.
In the bowl of a food processor, combined coconut flour, parmesan cheese and ground flax meal.
Pulse until the mixture has no lumps.
Pour into a medium sized mixing bowl.
In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Pour the eggs into the dry mixture and stir to combine.
Mix in the 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese until it is evenly distributed.
Place the dough ball in the middle of the parchment lined pizza pan.
Cover with a second sheet of parchment and roll the dough until it spread thinly.
Remove the cover parchment and put the crust in the preheated 350 degree oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.
While the crust is baking, thinly slice the steak. Use a sharp knife, slicing across the grain of the meat as thin as you possibly can.
Place the steak, olive oil and spices in a plastic bag and mix. Leave in the bag while you prep slice the onions and peppers.
Preheat a wok or large skillet and add the slices of steak. Cook quickly and remove from the wok.
Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the pan and add the onions.
Sauté them until they are translucent and beginning to caramelize. Add the green bell pepper and continue sautéing another 2 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Once the crust is done, add the meat followed by the onions and peppers.
Top with the provolone and shredded mozzarella.
Put the pizza back in the oven for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and gooey.
Serves 4, 2 slices each.
4 net carbs per serving.
....and that's What's Cooking at Cathy's ~ Enjoy!
